UNION PROUD, NEVADA PROUD

Northern Nevada is home to more than a dozen building and construction trade unions working together to build, remodel, retrofit, and repair the commercial and residential structures and byways we use and rely on every day. These unions provide state-of-the-art training—in many cases, on-the-job paid training—to union members who want to join the highly-skilled workforce and work with our local and regional construction partners.

Asbestos Workers Local 69

Today’s union insulator is skilled in the installation of mechanical insulation, fire stopping, asbestos and lead mitigation or abatement, sound attenuation and specialty fabrications required in custom mechanical insulation installations for commercial, industrial, medical, bio-technical, governmental and educational facilities among other customer types.

BOILERMAKERS LOCAL 549

The International Brotherhood of Boilermakers is a diverse union representing workers throughout the United States and Canada. Our members are employed in heavy industry, shipbuilding, manufacturing, railroads, cement, mining, and related industries. We construct and repair electric power plants, refineries, pulp and paper mills, and steel mills. We build naval ships and commercial tankers, repair locomotives, make cement, and mine coal, gypsum, and talc. We forge tools for industry and make consumer goods.

IRON WORKERS LOCAL 118

Since 1908, Iron Workers Local 118 has been serving Northern California and Nevada Iron Workers, training young apprentices and ensuring that our members have a safe working environment  and a pension when they retire. We help our members build lifelong careers in the iron working trade. From just 11 members in 1908, we have grown to more than 1,600 members 100 years later.

LABORERS UNION LOCAL 169

Local 169 represents over 1200 workers in Northern Nevada, primarily in construction, including Construction Craft Laborers, Plaster Hod Carriers and Brick Hod Carriers. Local 169 members enjoy paid training, good wages and benefits that include family health insurance coverage, and a locally-based defined benefit pension plan.

Local 797, is part of the Operative Plasterers and Cement Masons International Association.  Members of Local 797 can be found working on major projects throughout Nevada. PLUMBERS AND PIPEFITTERS LOCAL 350

Local 350 Apprentices and Journeymen receive the best training and education in the industry. Our apprentices attend a certified and accredited program which is taught by Local 350 Journeymen with many years of experience. Together with our contractors, Local 350 members have worked on projects ranging from small plumbing repair jobs to the biggest custom houses at Lake Tahoe.

SHEET METAL WORKERS LOCAL 26

Our members are unique in the construction industry as the only trade that designs, manufactures and installs our own products. These skilled craftspersons take ordinary types of flat metal and make them into specialized products for various duct and ventilation systems, as well as architectural and specialized metal fabrication.
